I have worked as a sculptor/designer, illustrator for the past 18 years. In those 18 years I have worked on a wide range of subjects and created several successful ranges for retail and collectors all over the world. The ranges have varied from wildlife through to fantasy and caricatured characters.

It all started for me on my degree course at Loughborough College of Art and Design. In the second year I did a project on “The Martin Brothers ” (Victorian ceramic artists). This project helped me develop a skill for caricatured bird and animal sculptures. My first full-time job was with Holland Studio Craft in Stoke-on-Trent.  I started with miniature wildlife sculptures then I designed and developed my first range which was made up of sporting animals.  These were caricatured pieces in a sporting theme. Next I worked on the Enchantica range created by Andrew Bill.  I concentrated on sculpting small dragons, snappa and rattajack characters. Whilst working on Enchantica I was asked to design a new fantasy range that would run alongside and “Fables” was born. The range's main topic being unicorns and Pegasus horses. It quickly developed to include other mythological creatures and then wildlife. “Fables” was a range that I would work on exclusively for the next 8 years and travel across Britain and America to do events and sign pieces. Also I was asked to appear on television on the main shopping channels “that was an experience”. Royal Doulton took over Holland Studio Craft and that really was the ‘kiss of death’ for Fables and Enchantica.  After being made redundant from Royal Doulton I managed to get a full-time job with Cobridge Stoneware, part of Moorcroft Pottery.  At Cobridge Stoneware I went back to my roots – to develop a caricatured range of birds and animals in high-fired stoneware. The next 6 years I built up a range of 30 different characters all with their own stories. In addition, I designed several different Moorcroft pattern designs resulting in my last piece ‘The Jungle Book’ (a black panther vase).  This vase can be seen in my portfolio section.  Unfortunately Cobridge Stoneware ceased trading so I decided to carry on but as a freelance sculptor/designer.

I then had a short period when I was involved with starting up Burslem Pottery, during this period I created a number of new pieces but in the end this venture did not workout for me and I chose to no longer be involved in it.

At present I am working on creating new caricatured birds and animals for my new venture Andrew Hull Pottery. The new pieces will follow on in the style for which I am well known and will pick up on the high standards and quality that was associated with Cobridge Stoneware.

In addition I have been working with other people on different projects that will soon be launched, but for the moment I can not divulge the details, I will update the site as things progress!
