Burslem Pottery

FROM COBRIDGE STONEWARE TO PRESENT FREELANCE ARTIST)

I finished at Cobridge Stoneware in September 2005. Moorcroft Pottery decided that they would carry on supporting me and I was allowed to produce the back catalogue under the new identity of Burslem Pottery.

October 2005 to May 2006 I remained a sole trader and during this period I released the Defender, Prosecutor, Stenographer and the Dutchess.

Spending the majority of my time on the business side of things prevented me from creating new pieces hence only producing two pieces in my Studio in Burslem. The two pieces to emerge from this very busy time were the Clerk and the Bailiff. I was then introduced to Jerry Marshall and discussions took place about him taking over the day to day business which would leave me free to concentrate on the creative aspects.

May 2006 Jerry took over the business and I decided to carry on working for Burslem Pottery but on a freelance basis. During the period up to January 2007 I created five new pieces for Burslem Pottery. These were Mary Sparrow, The Headmaster, Queen Victoria, Henry VIII and the two sided Character Jug.

I have decided not to take on any more commissions from Burslem Pottery but I am currently in the process of making alternative arrangements for the production of new pieces.
