COMMISSIONS

I would like to work closely with people on many different and varied projects.  My talents are quite wide ranging.

I can be commissioned for one-off designed sculpture or just design work e.g. textile patterns, card illustration, fine art sketch watercolours, ceramic pattern work for vessels and shapes, graphic design logos for business or clubs etc.  I would like the chance to do some book illustration e.g. childrens story books, as I feel I have my own individual style.

My three dimensional skills have been fine tuned by working in many different areas.  I started at Holland Studio Craft working on realistic accurate animal and bird sculptures.  Next I moved onto sculpting dragons on many different shapes and sizes for the “Enchantica” range.  I really like working on dragons as you can design them straight out of your head as they can resemble any kind of shape.  I found this was a skill that I could use when designing and sculpting my grotesque and caricatured birds and animals for Cobridge Stoneware and recently Burslem Pottery.

The more realistic sculpture work of the “Fables” range pushed my skills further.  Horses are very difficult to sculpt but after 8 years of sculpting horses I felt that I was beginning to understand the form.  I also worked on many licensed pieces e.g. Bertie Bassett, Fievel goes west, Old Bear and many more.  So from the horses of “Fables”, the grotesque models of Cobridge Stoneware and the realistic animals I feel that I have the capability and reliability to be commissioned to sculpt many different themes (perhaps personal sculptures of horses, pets etc.).

Over the past 18 years I have sold many of my sketch watercolours and drawings as one-offs or limited prints.  Some of these drawings have been carved on the surface of different shaped vases and tiles over the years.  They are very popular especially on the secondary market as are all the Cobridge Stoneware pieces.  In the past they have included themes of marine life, frogs, birds and dragons.  I have just finished a commission for a dragon vase.  I really enjoy doing this type of work as it is so different to the sculpting aspect of my work.  I have been told that my illustration work could be adapted for childrens books.  This would be fantastic, so if there is anybody out there that could help on this aspect, please get in touch.

While at Cobridge Stoneware I got the chance to design several patterns for Moorcorft Pottery and this was great experience for me.  I learnt the whole process from start to finish and it was fun.  Working on pattern work is quite difficult but the results speak for themselves.

After I left Royal Doulton and went to Cobridge Stoneware, it gave me a chance to carry on where I finished on my degree course.  This was a dream job for me.  I hope that I can still carry on being creative as this is so important to me.

You will fined a number of examples of commissions that I have done in the Portfolio, if you are interested in commissioning some work and would like to discuses your requirements please contact me for further details and availability.
